Eric Schroeder has been working with furniture since he was 16 years old. He has a broad range of experience, from working in a woodshop doing detail work on fine art furniture, to mass production office furniture, and finally, to his current role. Eric has been working at Bold for six years, starting as an intern while pursuing his BFA in Furniture Design at Kendall College of Art and Design. He has since worked his way up to Senior Product Designer for the team.
Originally from western Michigan, Eric has also spent time living in Wisconsin and New York. He has always enjoyed problem-solving and believes that well-thought-out design can lead to incremental improvements in people’s lives. Outside of work, Eric loves camping, hiking, and road tripping with friends, exploring different cultures and natural beauty. He enjoys trying new and unique restaurants with his partner Lauren and is always willing to sample a new food or drink at least once. Eric is also passionate about collecting and restoring vintage modernist design furniture, with a particular focus on the work of designers like Alexander Girard, Eero Saarinen, Finn Juhl, Charles and Ray Earnes, and George Nelson. In his free time, he can often be found with friends at one of his favorite local breweries or distilleries, or watching a hockey game.
